HGV Mechanic VMU Operative

About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated HGV Mechanic / VMU Technician to join an on-site Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU). The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out first-line repairs and preventative maintenance on our truck and trailer fleet, helping to ensure maximum vehicle availability and compliance. This role requires an individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, work effectively as part of a supportive team, and use their own initiative when required. A strong commitment to health and safety and maintaining high housekeeping standards is essential. Conduct Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) on trailers to a high standard. Respond to vehicle defects and live issues presented by drivers, completing repairs where appropriate. Perform daily inspections of rolling stock and address minor defects to minimise fleet downtime. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies, legal requirements and industry standards.
