HGV Mechanic/Technician

Location: Derby, DE21
Salary: £37,280 per annum
Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week

We're recruiting on behalf of Derby City Council for an experienced HGV Technician to join their Fleet Workshop at Stores Road. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a varied fleet of HGVs, refuse vehicles and plant equipment within a secure, supportive environment.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs, plant equipment and Council vehicles.

• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.

• Attending breakdowns and carrying out on-site repairs when required.

• Welding, fabrication and body repairs.

• Completing service and inspection records.

• Supporting workshop stores and maintaining a safe, tidy workspace.

• Working an alternating early and late shift rota (no night shifts).

• Participating in an out-of-hours standby rota.

About You

You'll have:

• Experience maintaining and repairing HGVs or heavy plant.

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

• Welding and fabrication experience.

• A reliable, safety-conscious approach with good communication skills.
