HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver Loader

Thorn Baker Recruitment are looking for Class 2 HGV Drivers!

Join the local Council’s Waste Management Team as a Class 2 HGV Refuse Driver. This hybrid role involves operating a refuse collection vehicle and assisting with physical waste collection tasks. While driving is required, much of the role involves refuse loading duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving: Operate a Class 2 refuse lorry safely in residential and urban areas.
• Manual Handling: Load and unload bins and waste materials; assist other loaders as needed.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with other crew members to complete routes efficiently.
• Health & Safety: Follow all relevant safety protocols while driving and loading.
• Customer Interaction: Represent the Council professionally when engaging with the public.

Essential Requirements

• A valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence
• At least 2 years of experience driving Class 2 vehicles
• Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
• Valid digital tachograph card
• Physically capable of manual work and loading duties
• Willingness to alternate between driving and loading tasks
• Team-oriented, reliable, and safety-conscious
• Previous experience in refuse collection or similar physical work is a plus (not essential)

Pay & Benefits

• Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour, with potential increases over time
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• Training: Full training provided
