We''re looking for a reliable and safety-conscious HGV Class 2 Driver to join our Refuse & Recycling team. This is an excellent ongoing temporary opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in delivering an essential service to the local community.
As an HGV Class 2 Driver, you''ll play a key role in carrying out daily refuse and recycling collections, ensuring waste is collected safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Working as part of a dedicated crew, you''ll help keep the local area clean while providing excellent customer service.
What you''ll be doing
As part of your role, you will:
Carry out scheduled refuse and recycling collections safely and efficiently.
Operate collection vehicles and associated machinery in line with training and health and safety procedures.
Use safe manual handling and lifting techniques when collecting waste and recycling.
Complete daily vehicle and machinery inspections before and after use, reporting any defects promptly.
Maintain the cleanliness and roadworthiness of vehicles and equipment.
Accurately complete all required paperwork and electronic records using in-cab technology and mobile devices.
Deliver excellent customer service, maintaining professional relationships with residents, clients, and other road users.
Work closely with the refuse loading team and assist with collections when required to ensure routes are completed within agreed service levels.
What we''re looking for
To be successful in this role, you''ll have:
A valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
A valid Driver CPC qualification.
Previous experience driving HGV vehicles in a professional environment.
A willingness to support refuse loaders during collections as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
A positive, reliable attitude and a strong commitment to health and safety.
