Heritage Officer Company Description Maritime Belfast Trust was established in 2007 to preserve and promote Belfast''s maritime heritage. Our primary objective was overseeing the delivery of the Titanic Belfast visitor attraction, and we are the owners and guardians of the building, including managing the operator contract. Titanic Belfast has become an international icon, welcoming over 10 million visitors and generating an economic impact of £430 million. The success of Titanic Belfast has enabled us to work on other projects. We led on the restoration of the former Harland and Wolff Drawing Offices, now Titanic Hotel Belfast, acquired the SS Nomadic and incorporated it into the Titanic Belfast experience, and preserved one of the rarest lighthouse optics in the world, now publicly displayed on Belfast''s waterfront as the Great Light. We also developed the award-winning Maritime Mile, an exciting Blueway for the city, representing one navigational mile of water and 10 kilometres of accessible, connected waterfront. In October 2025 the Belfast Historic Waterfront was officially designated a Heritage Place by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, one of only 15 across the UK and just two in Northern Ireland in recognition of the area''s national heritage significance. Maritime Belfast Trust is the lead partner for Belfast Historic Waterfront.
