Overview

Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust sexual health and HIV centres are modern clinics in West London and we are looking to recruit health care assistants to join the team and service. This role is a rare opportunity to develop skills in both sexual health and HIV. These posts are based at the following sites; please request your preferred site on the application: 10 Hammersmith Broadway.Responsibilities

Clinical duties including direct patient care under supervision, assisting the multidisciplinary team in delivering high standards of care to patients attending for Sexual, Reproductive health and HIV care.Housekeeping and administration duties and overseeing the maintenance of a safe environment for patients and staff.Work flexibly within the clinic and at outreach settings in the local community when applicable.Participate under supervision in delivery of patient care to defined client group, in accordance with the philosophy of care to enable independence. Work as part of an effective and caring team.Meet and record patient observations under supervision; report changes to the Registered Nurse/Midwife.Assist with feeding, hygiene, elimination needs, mobility aids, dignity, and comfort; support patients with meals and fluids and monitor intake as appropriate (inpatient only).Contribute to care of dying and deceased patients, supporting relatives and patients who have received bad news.Support health promotion/education and infection control.Complete delegated clerical duties and maintain patient confidentiality; liaise with administrative and clinical staff.About the team and development

You will join a team of friendly, skilled, experienced doctors, sexual health/HIV nurses, health advisers and admin staff. We have a full in-house and multidisciplinary education programme. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within the clinic and at outreach settings as applicable.Qualifications and Skills

Motivated, enthusiastic and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with a team in an innovative sexual health setting.Under direct supervision assists with delivery of care as described by the Registered Nurse and supports the Registered Nurse in meeting and recording patients’ needs.Awareness of infection control techniques and safe disposal of sharps; understanding universal safety techniques for spillages.Good communication and documentation skills; ability to liaise with staff and patients while maintaining confidentiality.Training and Development

Ward/Department induction and competency development; Essence of Care Programme; NVQ Level 2; relevant training in line with Trust policy.Engage in regular appraisals and personal development plans.Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
