Health Care Assistant

Job Purpose:
To support patients, service users, and healthcare professionals by delivering high-quality care, assisting with daily living activities, and promoting comfort, dignity, and independence in a healthcare or care home setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist patients/service users with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.

• Support mobility, including helping patients move, use mobility aids, or transfer safely.

• Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.

• Assist nursing staff with clinical duties, such as taking samples, applying dressings, and preparing equipment.

• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.

• Help serve meals and ensure patients receive adequate food and fluids.

• Maintain accurate records of care and report changes in condition to senior staff.

• Support infection control procedures and maintain a clean, safe environment.

• Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection policies.

• Participate in training, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Experience (desirable but not always essential):

• NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards).

• Previous experience in a care or healthcare setting.

• Basic Life Support and Manual Handling training.
