Health and Safety Manager

To produce and deliver an effective health and safety management system across the council; to ensure that the Council is meeting its legal and moral obligations to employees, contractors and members of the public affected by the Council''s activities.Key Duties / ResponsibilitiesStrategic ManagementManages the Health and Safety Support team, providing expert health, safety and welfare advice and guidance to directorate managers and ensuring co-ordination on the part of the section in meeting City Council and directorate objectives.Manages the provision of an effective health and safety service for the Directorate (e.g. policy and strategy implementation, accidents, wellbeing and problem solving), adding value to the business and contributing to overall organisational improvements Coaches directorate managers and health and safety support team to resolve people issues, motivate employees and improve the performance of individuals and teams as a whole, ensuring customer focus.Leads directorate managers in creating understanding of the linkages between safety culture, values and leadership behaviours.Negotiates the terms of Service Level Agreements with the Directorates and in schools and ensures projects and services are controlled and implemented effectively and consistently.Enhances the capacity of the Council to deliver its objectives through the creation of a healthy and safe working environment that supports the physical and mental wellbeing of all staff.Promotes and ..... full job details .....
