We re supporting a top–tier principal contractor in their search for an experienced and driven Health and Safety Manager to lead Health, Safety and Environmental performance across their Southern Business Unit. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, is passionate about cultural change, and enjoys shaping strategy at a senior level.
This hybrid strategic–focused position will operate on a weekly split of 2 days in the office (Near Guildford), 2 days supporting live projects across the south from an operational standpoint and 1 day from home. With a proven track record of development and internal progression within a growing business unit, this role offers unparalleled stability and security.

The OpportunityYou ll work closely with the Head of HSE, MD of the region, and senior stakeholders to:Deliver and embed HSE strategy across live and pre–construction projectsLead and coach a small team, including a Regional HSE AdvisorDrive engagement and improvement across multiple framework projects.Play an active role in leadership forums, board meetings, and business–wideInitiativesCover projects primarily across the South (no London travel) with a mix of site, office and home–based workWhat You ll Be DoingManaging and developing a regional HSE advisor and operational teamsTranslating group–wide strategy into practical, measurable actionsLeading on cultural change programmesSupporting bids, pre–construction, and client engagement from an HSE lensDriving quality incident investigations and actionable insightsReporting on key HSE metrics and trends for the regionWhat They re Looking ForMinimum 5 years in a senior HSE role, ideally in building constructionExperience operating or reporting into a senior leadership teamStrong strategic delivery and performance managementTrack record of embedding cultural change and communicating across all levels of an organisationExperience in operating in pre–construction through to completionPrevious line management experience (mentoring/coaching is a big plus)NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ Level 6 Equivalent or working towardsWhy Join?Be part of a secure and financially strong group with GBP900m+ turnover in the divisionPlay a key role in a growing business unit with 12 live projects and more in pre–construction
