Our client is seeking a Health and Safety Manager for a permanent position supporting major rail infrastructure projects and HS2 work packages. The role will lead health, safety and wellbeing activity across Anthro JV operations, ensuring legal compliance, strong project governance and a collaborative approach to safe delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of the Anthro Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing Strategy across project sites and offices.
- Provide expert advice, guidance, coaching and training on health, safety and wellbeing matters to project teams, employees, advisors and contractors.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, health-focused monitoring, audits and management system reviews, ensuring actions are communicated and closed out.
- Review Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, method statements, risk assessments and associated project documentation.
- Prepare and deliver toolbox talks, safety alerts, inductions and project briefings, supporting customer and Principal Contractor requirements.
- Ensure incidents, observations and suggestions are accurately reported, appropriately investigated and effectively managed through to completion.
- Attend project, business sector and customer safety meetings, providing updates on health, safety, environmental performance and relevant reporting systems.
- Support project mobilisation by preparing Health and Safety Management Plans, RAMS schedules, training materials, stakeholder arrangements and KPI measures.
Job Requirements:
- In-depth and demonstrable understanding of UK health and safety legislation and construction industry practices.
- In-depth knowledge of CDM Regulations and demonstrable experience working with ISO 45001.
- Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical standards, together with industry and customer standards associated with rail and infrastructure environments.
- Understanding of standards linked to Network Rail, London Underground, National Highways and UK Power Networks.
- NEBOSH Certificate and IOSH-certified membership.
- Safety-related CSCS or ECS card.
- Strong communication, coaching, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
- Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, together with a full UK driving licence.
