Health & Safety Manager

Location: Upminster, Essex
Salary: -60,000 - -65,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm-

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a well-established specialist services business operating across London and the South East. This is a pivotal role for someone who is passionate about creating a positive safety culture and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and compliance across a diverse operational environment.

Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving the company''s health and safety management systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation while supporting the business''s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company''s health, safety and compliance strategy across multiple operational sites.
  • Ensure the business remains fully compliant with current UK health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
  • Develop, review and implement health and safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, producing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions.
  • Deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Support contract managers and operational teams with day-to-day health and safety advice.
  • Monitor contractor compliance and ensure high standards are maintained across all projects.
  • Maintain accurate health and safety records and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the business, encouraging employee engagement and continuous improvement.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience as a Health & Safety Manager within a facilities management, engineering, building services or specialist services environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience carrying out audits, inspections and accident investigations.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to influence and drive positive change.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • A full UK driving licence.
