Health and Safety Manager

Health and Safety Manager - Carlisle, Cumbria - civil engineering project - £65k-£75k+car / car allowance and benefits The successful candidate will champion a positive safety culture, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with construction teams, subcontractors and client stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, promote best practice and ensure the safe delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure works. This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in a nationally significant infrastructure programme involving major civil engineering, electrical infrastructure and complex construction activities. Duties: Lead and promote a proactive health and safety culture across the project. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation. Provide expert health and safety advice to project leadership and operational teams. Develop, implement and review health and safety management systems and procedures. Conduct regular site inspections, audits and assurance activities. Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements. Lead incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. Deliver health and safety briefings, training and awareness initiatives.
