Pay: £150 – £250 per day (pro rata, depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health & Social Care Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Southampton from after the Easter break. This part-time role (0.8 timetable) offers an excellent opportunity for a teacher looking for a better work-life balance while still playing a key role within a supportive department.

You will deliver engaging and high-quality lessons to Key Stage 4 students, with potential involvement in Key Stage 5 depending on your experience. The role includes teaching key topics such as human development, health and wellbeing, and social care services, alongside supporting coursework and controlled assessments.

With schemes of work and resources already in place, you will be able to focus on delivering impactful lessons, tracking student progress, and supporting learners to achieve their full potential.

This is a large, mixed secondary school with approximately 1,200–1,400 students aged 11–16, situated in a residential area to the west of central Southampton. The school serves a diverse and inclusive community and is well-regarded for its strong pastoral care and commitment to student wellbeing.

Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching Health & Social Care at KS4 (KS5 desirable)

  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of coursework assessment

  • Ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • Organised, adaptable, and collaborative approach
