Health & Safety Advisor – Construction

Location: Maidstone
Day rate: £200 - £250 per day depending on experience 
Job Type: Full-time
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ construction health & safety experience

 

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to join our team and support the delivery of high standards of health, safety and welfare across our construction projects.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in construction health and safety and hold a NEBOSH qualification. You will play a key role in ensuring our sites operate safely, meet legal requirements and maintain a strong positive safety culture.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional health and safety advice to site teams, management and contractors.

  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety checks.

  • Identify hazards and provide practical recommendations to control risks.

  • Assist with the preparation and review of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).

  • Monitor compliance with company policies, procedures and relevant health and safety legislation.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and assist with implementing corrective actions.

  • Deliver health and safety inductions, briefings and toolbox talks.

  • Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation.

  • Support site managers and project teams in promoting a strong safety culture.

  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors and other stakeholders regarding health and safety matters.

  • Keep up to date with changes in health and safety legislation and industry best practice.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a construction health & safety role.

  • NEBOSH qualification.

  • Good knowledge of UK construction health and safety legislation.

  • Experience conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments.

  • Strong understanding of RAMS and construction site safety.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and provide practical, solutions-focused advice.

  • Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

  • Full UK driving licence would be desirable.

 

Desirable

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate.

  • IOSH membership or similar professional membership.

  • CSCS or equivalent construction-related certification.

  • Experience working across multiple construction sites.

  • Additional qualifications such as First Aid, SMSTS or Temporary Works training.
