Health & Safety Advisor – Civils / Construction

Location: Essex & South East
Position: Permanent

We are recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to join an established construction contractor delivering civil engineering projects across Essex and the wider South East.

This opportunity is open to Health & Safety professionals at different stages of their career, from developing Advisors through to experienced Project-level H&S Advisors.

Previous civil engineering experience is not essential. We are happy to consider candidates from other construction sectors who are looking to move into civils and infrastructure, with training and upskilling available where required.

The Role

You will work closely with project and site teams, providing practical Health & Safety support across a range of live civil engineering projects.

Projects will be located across Essex, Kent and Hertfordshire, with the potential to support projects further afield in Suffolk.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out regular site visits, inspections and H&S audits.

• Providing practical Health & Safety advice and guidance to project and site teams.

• Reviewing RAMS and other site safety documentation.

• Monitoring site activities and identifying potential risks.

• Supporting incident and near-miss investigations.

• Ensuring compliance with company procedures and H&S legislation.

• Working closely with subcontractors and site teams to promote safe working practices.

• Supporting toolbox talks and safety briefings.

• Helping to maintain and develop a positive Health & Safety culture across projects.

About You

We are interested in speaking with candidates who:

• Have Health & Safety experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or a related sector.

• Are interested in working within civil engineering and infrastructure.

• Are comfortable working in a site-based role and travelling between projects.

• Ideally live in Essex or within a reasonable commuting distance.

• Hold a relevant Health & Safety qualification.

• Have a full UK driving licence.

• Are keen to develop their career and take advantage of further training and upskilling.
