Non-Teaching Head of Year Secondary Academy Newham, London A thriving secondary academy in Newham, London is seeking a dedicated and proactive Non-Teaching Head of Year to join its pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and creating a positive learning environment. Working Hours: 8:00am 4:00pm Key Responsibilities Visit lessons to support students and promote positive behaviour. Respond promptly to on-call requests when students require behavioural support. Supervise after-school detentions. Respond to initial parent enquiries via email. Meet with parents to discuss behaviour concerns and agree on appropriate support strategies. Work closely with teaching staff and the wider pastoral team to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed. About You We are looking for someone who: Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Is confident managing behaviour in a calm, professional, and consistent manner. Can build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Is organised, resilient, and able to respond effectively in a fast-paced school environment. Has experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting (desirable).
