Are you someone who genuinely enjoys getting to know students, supporting them through challenges and helping them become the best version of themselves?

Bright Star Talent-are working with a thriving secondary school in-Darwen, rated-Good by Ofsted, who are looking for a committed and approachable-Head of Year-to join their pastoral team.

With-over 1,200 students, this is a busy school where no two days are the same. You''ll be working closely with students, teachers, families and the wider pastoral team, making a real difference to the day-to-day experience of young people.

What you''ll be doing

As Head of Year, you''ll be at the heart of your year group''s pastoral support. You''ll:

  • Get to know your students and understand what motivates and challenges them.
  • Provide a consistent point of support for students who may need extra guidance.
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and progress.
  • Work with students to overcome barriers and build confidence.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents and carers.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to put the right support in place.
  • Help manage behaviour and encourage high expectations.
  • Celebrate student achievements and recognise their progress.
  • Support students through difficult situations and help them make positive choices.

Who we''re looking for

We''re looking for someone who is-approachable, resilient and genuinely cares about young people.

You might already be working in a pastoral role, or you could be an experienced education professional ready to take the next step in your career.

Most importantly, you''ll be someone who:

  • Builds strong and trusting relationships with students.
  • Is confident dealing with challenging situations.
  • Communicates well with students, staff and families.
  • Remains calm and positive under pressure.
  • Has high expectations but understands that every student is different.
  • Wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people.
  • Has a-DBS registered on the Update Service.
