We are looking for an experienced Head of Transformer Sales to lead and grow our clients transformer business.

This is a senior commercial role for someone who combines strong knowledge of the transformer market with genuine technical understanding of the product. The successful candidate will know where the opportunities are, understand the customers and decision-makers within those markets, and be able to turn that knowledge into a focused sales strategy and sustainable revenue growth.

Alongside developing key accounts and opening new markets, you will lead and develop a small team of sales professionals, providing the direction, technical-commercial support and accountability required to deliver against ambitious growth targets.

As Head of Transformer Sales, you will take ownership of the sales strategy and commercial performance of the transformer portfolio.

You will identify the most attractive markets, customers and applications for our products and develop a clear plan for penetrating and growing those markets. This requires someone who understands not only how to sell transformers, but who buys them, why they buy them, how projects are specified and how purchasing decisions are made.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the sales strategy for the transformer business.
  • Identify and prioritise target markets, applications, customers and geographic opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of new and existing business.
  • Develop relationships with key customers, including utilities, network operators, EPCs, developers, contractors, consultants, industrial customers and other relevant transformer buyers.
  • Understand customer technical requirements and translate these into commercially viable transformer solutions.
  • Lead major bids, tenders and contract negotiations from initial opportunity through to order.
  • Work closely with engineering and technical teams to ensure proposed solutions meet customer specifications and application requirements.
  • Provide commercial input into product positioning, pricing, lead times and market strategy.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of competitor products, pricing, manufacturing capability and market developments.
  • Build strategic relationships with channel partners, agents and other routes to market where appropriate.
  • Manage, coach and develop a small sales team, establishing clear targets, territories and accountabilities.
  • Conduct regular pipeline and opportunity reviews and ensure disciplined use of CRM and forecasting processes.
  • Set sales targets and provide accurate revenue, order intake and pipeline forecasts to senior management.
  • Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events, exhibitions and relevant market forums.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, engineering, manufacturing and senior leadership to ensure commercial commitments can be successfully delivered.

The ideal candidate will already have a strong track record within the transformer, power equipment or closely related electrical infrastructure market.
