Job Purpose:
Our Client supports developers, landowners, and investors in navigating the complexities of utility infrastructure across the full project lifecycle.
The Head of Tendering & New Sales will lead tendering, bid management and new-client acquisition activities.
The role will be responsible for creating a consistent and commercially disciplined approach to identifying opportunities, developing winning proposals and converting new enquiries into profitable appointments. Working closely with the leadership team, the head of will ensure that proposed services are deliverable, correctly resourced, appropriately priced and aligned with the company''s strategic growth objectives. This is a senior leadership role with direct responsibility for developing the new-business pipeline and supporting the companies ambition to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
Tendering and Bid Management
* Lead the preparation and submission of tenders, fee proposals, framework applications, expressions of interest and pre-qualification questionnaires.
* Establish a structured bid-management process covering qualification, bid planning, technical input, pricing, review, approval and submission.
* Assess new opportunities against agreed bid/no-bid criteria, including strategic fit, probability of success, available resources, commercial return and delivery risk.
* Coordinate contributions from directors, project teams and external specialists.
* Ensure submissions clearly communicate the company''s experience, technical capability, commercial value and points of difference.
* Maintain and continuously improve the company''s library of case studies, CVs, methodologies, policies and standard tender responses.
* Manage tender deadlines and ensure all submissions are accurate, compliant, professional and issued on time.
* Lead tender interviews, presentations and post-submission negotiations where required.
* Conduct bid reviews and capture lessons learned from successful and unsuccessful submissions.
New Business Sales
* Develop and deliver the company''s new-business sales strategy.
* Identify and pursue opportunities across residential development, infrastructure, data centres, commercial property, industrial development, energy and other target sectors.
* Build relationships with prospective clients, developers, consultants, contractors, landowners and strategic partners.
* Secure introductions and meetings with key decision-makers.
* Translate initial client discussions into clearly defined, commercially viable service opportunities.
* Maintain a healthy and balanced pipeline of short-, medium- and long-term opportunities.
* Take ownership of progressing new enquiries from initial contact through to appointment.
* Develop sector-specific propositions and sales campaigns in support of the company''s growth plan.
* Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, conferences and networking opportunities.
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging client requirements.
Experience and Qualifications
* Significant experience in tendering, bid management, business development or consultative sales.
* A strong track record of securing professional-services or technically complex commissions.
* Experience working within utilities, infrastructure, property, construction, engineering, energy or a related consultancy environment.
* Experience preparing and reviewing scopes, fee proposals and commercial submissions.
* The ability to understand technical services and translate them into persuasive client propositions.
* Strong commercial awareness, including pricing, margin, risk and contractual considerations.
* Experience managing senior-level client relationships and commercial negotiations.
* Excellent written communication, presentation and influencing skills.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple submissions and deadlines.
* Experience using CRM, pipeline-management and reporting systems.
* Previous leadership or team-management experience.
* A relevant professional or degree-level qualification would be beneficial but is not essential where equivalent experience can be demonstrated.
