Our client North Wales Police are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Scrutiny and Assurance to play a pivotal role in enhancing public services within the community. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the Police and Crime Commissioner''s statutory duties, ensuring performance accountability and effective policy implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the scrutiny and planning functions of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, with a focus on developing and monitoring the Police and Crime Plan.
• Ensure the Police and Crime Commissioner can effectively hold the Chief Constable accountable for performance, providing strategic advice and early identification of issues.
• Manage a team of Scrutiny/Policy Officers and Analysts, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment with the Commissioner''s objectives.
• Oversee the development and implementation of policies, ensuring they remain current and effective in meeting community needs.
• Promote transparency by delivering clear performance information to the Police and Crime Panel and the public.

Key Accountabilities:

• Drive the development of the Police and Crime Plan and monitor delivery against agreed priorities.
• Collaborate with the Chief Executive to respond to critical evaluations and policy impacts on policing.
• Manage project finances within the scrutiny portfolio, ensuring value for money and alignment with community safety requirements.
• Engage with local communities and stakeholders to reflect their needs in policy development.

Ideal Candidate:
Our client is looking for a candidate with:

• A degree or equivalent experience in a strategic role within a complex public sector environment.
• Proven experience in corporate governance and performance management.
• Strong skills in influencing public policy and building relationships with stakeholders.
• In-depth knowledge of strategic planning tools for continuous improvement.
• Exceptional leadership and motivational skills, along with the ability to delegate effectively.

Desirable Attributes:

• A postgraduate qualification in business administration or related field.
• Experience in managing complex relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to continuous personal and professional development.

Additional Requirements:

• Level 3 Welsh language proficiency (commitment to reach Level 4 within 12 months).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities under pressure
• Due to police vetting criteria you must have resided continuously within the UK for the past 5 years at the time of application.
