Our client, a respected local authority, is seeking an Interim Head of Revenues to lead their Revenues service during a 3 month temporary appointment, ahead of the permanent recruitment process.The Role

Head of Revenues , you will provide assurance that the Council is delivering a high-performing, well-managed Local Taxation Revenue Collection Service. You will be responsible for directing, leading, and managing high-quality, cost-effective services that ensure policy objectives are met.Key Responsibilities

Lead all aspects of Local Taxation Revenue Collection operations, ensuring a strong customer focus.Oversee total debt management across the Council, setting practice standards and monitoring frameworks.Manage a team of 37 FTEs and a gross service budget of £3m.Ensure effective collection of £164m in Council Tax and £98m in Business Rates.Build strong working relationships with Elected Members and internal/external stakeholders.Drive income collection through fair, modern, and innovative processes.Champion a “Digital by Desire” approach to service delivery.Manage large-scale service budgets and provide accurate financial reporting.Develop and implement a service business plan aligned with strategic and financial objectives.Maximise the value of Government grants awarded to the service.Foster a culture of performance, continuous improvement, and customer focus.The successful candidate will bring

Senior-level experience in Local Taxation Revenue Collection within a high-pressure, target-driven environment.A track record of delivering significant organisational change and budget efficiencies.Strong knowledge of best practices in digital transformation, customer engagement, and service improvement.Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff to achieve outstanding results.Experience of working with elected members, stakeholders, and partner organisations.This is an exciting opportunity for a proven Revenues leader to make an immediate impact within a large and complex local authority service.Please note: The rate is fixed – only candidates willing to accept the stated rate will be considered.Seniority level
