Head of PE

Prospero Teaching are working closely with a Good Ofsted rated mixed secondary school in Basingstoke, Hampshire, who are looking to appoint a Head of Physical Education to join them from September.

The school have a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional and inspiring PE specialist to lead a well-established department in a school where students are well behaved and engaged. This role would suit an experienced teacher or current middle leader looking to take the next step in their career.

The school believes strongly in the development of the whole person, both socially and academically, and prides itself on celebrating individual pupil success and effort. They are therefore looking for a leader who is passionate about sport, participation, and student well being and who can contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

• Contract or position start date - September 2026
• Duration / Likely Duration - Permanent
• Full time/part time - Full time
• Minimum rate of pay - MPS / UPS (dependent on experience) + TLR
• Hours - 8:15 am - 4.00pm, plus parent''s evenings and leadership/department meetings

• QTS or equivalent
• A strong background teaching PE in UK secondary schools
• Previous leadership experience or clear evidence of leadership potential
• Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child-related references covering the last 2 years

• Free, accredited continued professional development courses including safeguarding and behaviour management
• 1:1 interview and trial day preparation from our experienced training and development team and qualified teachers
• Access to online CPD courses (award-winning upskilling provider - UK Business Awards 2024)
