Key Responsibilities:




  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Music department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.


  • Deliver engaging and dynamic Music lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, in line with the national curriculum.


  • Develop and oversee a broad and ambitious Music curriculum that nurtures studentsandrsquo; passion for the subject.


  • Lead, manage, and inspire a team of Music teachers, supporting their professional development.


  • Organize and oversee extracurricular music activities, including school concerts, orchestras, choirs, and productions.


  • Foster strong relationships with external musical organizations, industry professionals, and local communities.


  • Ensure students have access to performance opportunities, competitions, and music qualifications such as GCSEs and A-Levels.


  • Manage department resources effectively and contribute to the schoolandrsquo;s wider cultural and artistic initiatives.


Ideal Candidate Profile:




  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Music or a related field.


  • Proven experience in leading or managing a Music department or a strong track record as a Music Teacher with leadership aspirations.


  • Comprehensive knowledge of music education, including performance, composition, and music theory.


  • A passion for developing studentsandrsquo; musical skills and inspiring a love for music across all abilities.


  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills to drive the department forward.


  • Enthusiasm for extracurricular music programs and a commitment to developing the schoolandrsquo;s musical profile.


  • A valid Enhanced DBS check and professional references.
