Director of Machine Learning and AIHybrid (3 days in office)Up to £125,000 + EquityAbout the RoleA rapidly growing climate tech company, supported by top investors, is on the lookout for a passionate Director of AI and ML to spearhead the creation of cutting-edge machine learning solutions. Your work will empower banks, insurers, and real estate firms to comprehend and tackle physical climate risks. You will be tasked with defining the ML strategy, assembling a high-impact team, and driving real-world innovations in generative AI, geospatial modelling, and time-series forecasting.Responsibilities
Develop and refine the company’s AI and ML strategy in alignment with product goals and customer needs.Lead, mentor, and expand a talented team of ML Engineers.Transform prototypes into production-ready features that leverage GenAI and predictive models.Collaborate with Science and Engineering teams to integrate ML solutions with physics-based climate models.Simplify complex technical concepts to enable effective communication with customers and cross-functional teams.Your work will focus on delivering high-value insights and solutions, including:Creating generative AI tools for assessing geospatial risks.Building predictive models to forecast the impacts of floods, cyclones, and heat stress.Utilizing satellite imagery and remote sensing technology for climate hazard detection.Enhancing time-series forecasting to inform risk planning at the asset level.Integrating simulation data with ML for combined physical and statistical modelling.What We’re Looking For
Demonstrated leadership with extensive hands-on experience.Proven success in deploying ML solutions in production settings.Expertise in at least one of the following: generative AI, geospatial ML, computer vision, or forecasting.Experience working with climate data or related fields.Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across teams.A background in startups or scale-ups.Bonus Points
