We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Liability Trading to join our Breeze Underwriting team at their office in Colchester, with the option of Hybrid working available.You will be responsible for the trading performance, growth strategy and the ongoing attraction of talent and colleague development for the Liability segment within Breeze Underwriting. You will have the responsibility for profitably growing the business through internal and external sources. Constantly seeking to deliver long terms sustainable capacity solutions, market leading policy wordings and service excellence.Your key accountabilities will be (but not limited to):Trading budget deliveryDrive financial performance and operational productivity to meet and exceed targetsLead a highly efficient trading cultureWork proactively and collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to maximize broker account performance. Specifically, with the broker relationship team and technical teams to maximise technical, service and resource performance and productivityPeople leadership, training and development.Support the business through full integration and alignment with GeoDevelop (in conjunction with the CUO office) and execute an underwriting strategy for Breeze UnderwritingEnsure adherence to the technical pricing model and framework is in place (consisting of policy conditions, proposition, underwriting procedures) to maximise the selection of risks within appetite, and establish processes to monitor business being underwrittenIdentify and implement opportunities to improve the underwriting footprint – for example, using external data to determine geographical risk, street pricing flexibility etc.In conjunction with other functions (in particular, Pricing and Sales/Distribution) monitor the underwriting results (and other key metrics) of the portfolio – contributing to identifying and capturing growth opportunities and establishing remedial plans (where required)Support the management the “internal” Underwriting Governance Framework – including licensing, monitoring of QA activity (and subsequent actions), managing internal audits and the authority/binder breach processes.In conjunction with other functions, participate in new product innovation and existing product management that improves income and margin for the business.Lead the liability trading teams across applicable locations.Monitor and anticipate customer needs and demonstrate delivery against agreed service proposition metrics.Meet regularly with key internal and external stakeholders to continuously analyse and improve customer service delivery.Case underwrite and contribute towards growth through front line trading.Qualifications and Experience:Liability underwriting experienceExperience within senior underwriting roles in the UK Insurance sector.Wide exposure to all segments of the UK Retail and Wholesale insurance distributionSenior level network within both intermediaries and insurersStrong operational and project management awarenessIdeally educated to degree standard and/or ACII qualifiedWhat we are looking for in our Head of Liability Trading:Strong technical liability (construction classes in particular) knowledgeDeveloped broker and capacity relationshipsStrong customer focus and ability to motivate a team to share that focusAble to demonstrate a high level of business awareness through knowledge of the Insurance industry, MGAs and the Lloyds market with the ability to transfer this quickly to specific business area or situation.Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyses base data and provide commercially sound and viable business solutions.Ability to communicate facts clearly both written and verbal to peers and senior management adapting content and approach as necessary.Able to demonstrate very strong influencing, negotiating and motivational skillsHave a track record that shows an ability to react positively and effectively to customer needsDemonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and development of others.Experience of managing people with strong leadership skills.Excellent time management skills.Ability to work within a project environment.Show resilience and drive, be prepared to try new ways of working, accept change, adhere to new requirements, actively contribute towards problem solving whilst focusing on the task at hand.Consistently seeking new areas for improvement both personal and business.We offer genuine potential for both personal and professional development, come and be part of our story and help us shape our future.
