Head Of IT

EduExec Recruitment is partnering with a well-regarded school-in South London to appoint a Head of IT. Following a sustained period of stability and improvement, the school is now entering its next phase, and this role will be central to it. A strategic move to a modern, cloud-based platform has already been agreed and is ready to be taken forward. This is a broad remit for someone who wants to shape the function rather than simply maintain it.

Reporting directly to the Headteacher, the successful candidate will have full ownership of IT strategy, infrastructure and service delivery across the school.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the school''s IT strategy and infrastructure, including oversight of the ongoing move to a modern cloud-based system
• Line managing and developing IT staff, including recruitment, training and the day to day leadership of the department
• Ensuring the school meets its GDPR, security and data protection obligations
• Managing the IT budget alongside supplier and service contracts
• Putting in place and upholding cybersecurity protocols and disaster recovery plans
• Supporting digital teaching and learning across the curriculum in close partnership with academic staff
• Delivering hands-on support to staff and students with a wide range of digital abilities

The school is looking for proven IT leadership experience, ideally within a school or similarly regulated setting, along with a real comfort working at both a strategic and hands-on level. Experience of leading or overseeing a system migration, managing cybersecurity risk directly and presenting confidently to senior leadership would be a strong advantage. This is an excellent step up for someone ready to take ownership of a full IT function, with genuine scope to influence how the school approaches technology over the coming years.
