Overview

Head of Hybrid Platforms role at Weightmans. The IT team supports digital transformation and innovation across departments. The role ensures the suitability, stability and security of all cloud (Azure) and on-premise platforms up to the Application layer. It oversees the Hybrid Platform, Database and Cyber Security teams as part of IT senior management.This position is part of the IT Senior Management Team with accountability for strategy and roadmap within the domain, managing resources, tools, budgets, frameworks and delivery in alignment with the overall IT strategy. The role holder should be confident in designing and executing a strategic roadmap and in leading a high-performing team.Key Duties and Responsibilities

Hardware: Ensure the suitability, stability and performance of servers, storage, networking and databases.Operating Systems: Keep operating systems up to date and correctly licensed.Cloud Services Opportunities: Identify opportunities to move to cloud services in line with the future roadmap, scalability, stability, cost effectiveness and performance.Cloud Services Management: Ensure cloud platforms are secure, stable and cost effective.Middleware and APIs: Ensure robust middleware and APIs for interoperability and data flow and management.Network: Ensure the suitability, stability and performance of the WAN and LANs.Cyber Security: Deliver the cyber security strategy in line with the NIST framework along with CE+ and ISO 27001; day-to-day management of security tooling and operations.Back-Up: Ensure all platforms are reliably backed up in accordance with policies aligned to ISO 22301.Testing and Quality Assurance: Maintain rigorous testing and QA standards to deliver reliable releases.Strategic Leadership: Own and execute a strategy and roadmap for the area of responsibility.Team Management: Lead, mentor and develop teams; set goals and foster a collaborative environment.Reporting and Analytics: Develop and present regular reports on service performance, risks and achievements; use data to inform decisions.Process Management: Maintain documentation, knowledge base, processes and metrics to support operational excellence and regulatory compliance.Project Management Framework: Ensure IT projects run to time, budget and scope while delivering benefits and ability to move quickly.Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with legal, IT peers, finance and HR, and external vendors to meet business and compliance requirements.Continuous Improvement: Drive operational excellence using quality methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, ITIL).Collaborative Working: Work with other IT teams to ensure stability, performance and security of IT solutions.Facilitate Success: Promote high-performing teams and rapid intervention when needed.Risk and Compliance: Ensure systems and processes meet legal, regulatory and data security standards.This list is not exhaustive; additional duties may fall within the role’s remit.About You

Substantial experience designing and delivering a reliable, secure and cost-effective hybrid platform and infrastructure foundation (servers, storage, networking, OS).Strong knowledge of cyber security best practices.Commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.Strong business acumen including budgeting and resource management.Strategic thinker with solutions orientation.Collaborative leader with passion for team development and mentoring.Knowledge of risk management, compliance and data protection.Relevant professional qualifications or demonstrable experience in IT, computer science, or related discipline.Why work for us
