Location - North East Wales

Duration - Interim for 3-4 months initially however this will be reviewed with the potential to extend further

Day rate - Negotiable depending on experience

Monday - Friday - 37.5 hours a week

Sellick Partnership are supporting a public sector organisation with the recruitment of a Head of Health and Safety to provide operational leadership and strategic oversight on Health and Safety, environmental and sustainability matters, ensuring the effective management of risk, compliance with statutory obligations, incident management, resilience planning and the delivery of a positive safety and sustainability culture across all activities.

Key responsibilities for the Head of Health and Safety

• Develop a customer-focused service that is responsive and flexible with regard to a variety of customer needs and delivered to a high standard.
• Identify clear objectives for service delivery, including management of risk, and develop and performance manage relevant action plans to ensure effective and efficient implementation
• Assess political pressures and agendas on service delivery and tailor plans/activity accordingly
• Pursue best practice and value for money within the Service through the establishment of effective systems of target setting, performance management and procurement
• Effectively manage the Service budget, ensuring spending within agreed limits
• Manage and develop a team of professional officers and/or supervisory staff

Key areas of Knowledge & Experience

• Demonstrable experience of successful partnership and multi-agency working
• Experience of applying risk management in setting strategy and in identifying and managing principal risks to achievement of objectives
• Experience of successful project management and delivering services to set standards
• Succesful track record of communicating with stakeholders and partners

Qualifications

• Leadership/management qualification and/or significant leadership/management experience
• NEBOSH certification or willingness to work towards.
• Chartered member of IOSH
