Across the EMEA region, we engage in well over a hundred local conversations and negotiations with governments at local, regional and national levels, using advocacy and partnership strategies that involve our community to support fair, progressive home sharing rules and travel affordability.The Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy Campaigns (NEMEA) is responsible for developing and executing fully integrated policy strategic engagement plans in the region and leading the local team, under the direction of the Director of Public Policy and Campaigns, EMEA. The role uses data-informed strategies to protect and further the legitimacy of Airbnb and our community.Responsibilities
Lead and line-manage a diverse team of campaign experts delivering complementary strands of work to support the overall strategy.Inspire and align the team with Airbnb’s Core Values, foster an inclusive culture, and manage performance, recruitment, and succession planning.Develop and execute regional policy strategies for priority geographies, defining policy goals and creating operational plans with measurable progress, informed by data and insights.Collaborate with the wider EMEA team to share best practices and ensure alignment with Airbnb’s global approach.Coordinate with local leadership (Country Manager, marketing, legal counsel, Communications) to align engagement and campaign plans with business priorities.Communicate campaign strategies and progress to internal stakeholders and senior leaders; manage expectations and coordinate cross-team efforts to achieve goals.Represent Airbnb at senior political levels and with the media; build and maintain relationships with a broad network of government offices and coalitions to advance advocacy initiatives.Qualifications and Expertise
At least 15 years of experience dealing with complex political or regulatory issues in business, government, or NGOs; travel, urbanism, or technology experience is preferred.Advanced knowledge of the political landscape and legislative processes in the UK, EU, and Middle East and Africa; ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.Ability to rapidly understand complex technical and regulatory issues and apply a broad range of campaigning strategies.Senior leadership experience managing diverse multidisciplinary teams; strong delegation, performance management, coaching and talent development skills.Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders; ability to multi-task and coordinate across functions to achieve goals.Excellent strategic thinking, creativity, and communication skills (including spokesperson experience) with strong writing and presentation abilities.Self-starter with resilience in fast-moving environments; strong interpersonal skills.Fluent English required; additional European language skills are a plus.
