AXIS is seeking a Head of Global Markets Claims to join our Claims organization. Reporting to the Global Chief Claims Officer, based in the US, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for leading and managing the Global Markets Claims team across AXIS’ Irish and UK legal entities, including a Lloyd’s Managing Agency. You will work closely with the London Global Markets team and represent claims as part of local Executive committees and external associations as appropriate. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and customer-centric claims handling.The successful candidate will hold the regulatory designations below and oversee claims governance, performance, and reporting, while maintaining high standards under the Individual Accountability Framework in Ireland and the Senior Managers and Certification Regime in the UK.Regulatory Designations
Ireland: PCF-43 – Head of Claims (Central Bank of Ireland)UK: SMF 18 – Senior Management Function (Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulation Authority)Key Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver a market leading claims service to brokers and clients, supporting claims improvement and growth aligned to AXIS strategies and growth plans.Drive continuous improvement of claims operating models, management reporting, data analysis, processes, and service, collaborating with Global Claims Shared Services and Data and Analytics.Operate within budgeted resources, forecasting resource needs and costs to achieve fiscal responsibility.Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, including data management and reporting.Establish metrics and utilize performance monitoring to track quality and productivity.Ensure claims are managed and reserved per AXIS guidelines and Lloyd’s Principles and Minimum Standards.Provide timely, quality claims reporting to UK and Irish boards and executive committees, and other governance forums as needed.Collaborate with Xchanging claims services and other service providers to maintain premier service.Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders (peers, underwriting, actuarial, ceded reinsurance, executives).Engage external stakeholders (insureds, regulators including FCA/PRA/CBI, Lloyd’s, Lloyd’s Market Association, attorneys, auditors, reinsurers, vendors, TPAs, MGA/MGUs, brokers).Lead a performance culture with data improvements, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and employee development; collaborate with HR for support and guidance.Recruit, hire, and retain top talent and develop succession plans.Key Skills and Abilities
10-15+ years of claims leadership for International/Global Markets Claims in commercial and/or specialty insurers.Strong leadership, organizational, and management capabilities; ability to influence across organizational levels.Continuous improvement mindset with data proficiency to drive results and decisions.Working knowledge of the London market and claims subscription processes; familiarity with CLASS, ECF, and IAL.Strong communication skills to navigate conflicting expectations and drive solutions.Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ACII or equivalent) or equivalent leadership experience in claims.Proven experience managing claims across multiple jurisdictions; strong understanding of regulatory frameworks in Ireland (CBI) and the UK (FCA/PRA).Understanding of the Lloyd’s Oversight Framework and its Principles for Doing Business at Lloyd’s.Some travel is associated with this role.Seniority level
