Head of Geography

A dynamic and experienced Head of Geography is sought to lead and shape the future of the Geography department within an Outstanding school in Enfield, commencing a permanent full-time role in September. The successful candidate will provide strategic vision and inspiring leadership for the teaching of Geography across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (ages 11-18).

Responsibilities

• They will provide inspirational leadership and effective management for the Geography department, including curriculum design, resource allocation, and the professional development of team members.
• The role involves teaching engaging and thought-provoking Geography lessons across all key stages, instilling a passion for the subject and its relevance to the world.
• They will implement robust systems for monitoring and evaluating student progress, driving continuous improvement within the department.
• Collaboration with senior leadership on whole-school initiatives and active participation in the wider school community will be expected.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent qualification with a specialism in Geography is essential.
• Substantial experience teaching Geography at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, coupled with demonstrable leadership experience, is essential.
• A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of geographical concepts, fieldwork methodologies, and current global issues is expected.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both students and staff, are necessary.
