They provide professional advice regarding fire safety legislation, fire codes, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005, building regulations, and other relevant legislation within the Trust and for other client bodies.Main duties of the jobEnsuring an effective organisational fire safety management framework using HTM 05-01.Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and technical guidance.Planning the design of new buildings and monitoring construction to ensure compliance with HTM standards, Building Regulations, and the Fire Safety Order.Developing and implementing fire safety policies.Staying informed of legislative changes and assessing their implications.Supporting investigation teams in root cause analysis and incident investigations.Collaborating with the Learning team to develop and deliver fire safety training.Maintaining incident records, including false alarms and unwanted fire signals.Providing professional fire safety advice to staff at all levels.Assisting facilities managers with fire safety-related matters.Assuming fire safety advisor duties in their absence.Managing the fire safety budget as the designated budget assurer.Working for our organisationGreater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 7,000 staff across more than 160 locations. We provide inpatient and community mental health services across Greater Manchester and beyond, in a vibrant and diverse environment where staff are encouraged to learn, develop, and innovate.Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesProviding advice and support for fire safety protocols and emergency plans.Advising on legislative implications and ensuring standards are met.Maintaining compliance records and ensuring documentation is up-to-date.Disseminating information and ensuring a robust audit trail.Offering specialised advice to support legal compliance with the Fire Safety Order 2005.Supporting planning and implementation of new or altered facilities with legislative considerations.Leading and participating in emergency response and incident investigations.Additional detailsSalary band: 1-4, with shift patterns including weekends, evenings, nights, and public holidays.Benefits include annual leave, cycle to work scheme, and salary sacrifice car scheme.Person specificationKnowledge and ExperienceDegree in fire engineering or related field, with specialist training from ''The Fire Services College'' and experience to master''s level or equivalent.Membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers or similar, with Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment Diploma.NEBOSH General Certificate, Principles in HTM05-01, Fire Door Inspection Level 3.KnowledgeExperience in root cause analysis, audits, and quality assurance.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Strong report writing and data presentation skills.Ability to analyse complex situations and develop strategic improvements.The Trust mandates DBS checks via the Update Service, with a fee of £16 per year.
