Head Of External Relations

About the Role We are seeking an experienced and politically astute Head of External Relations to play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Mayor and Mayor''s Office. This is a high-profile position responsible for providing expert advice on public policy, stakeholder engagement, communications strategy and media relations. Working at the heart of the organisation, you will help shape and communicate the Mayor''s priorities while building strong relationships across government, partner organisations, the media and local communities. You will act as a trusted adviser, providing strategic counsel, managing complex external relationships and ensuring effective coordination of policy, engagement and communications activity. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic advice to the Mayor on public policy, external relations and communications. Develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders, partner organisations, government departments and other public sector bodies. Support the Mayor and senior leadership team in delivering key priorities, projects and initiatives. Lead on stakeholder engagement and help build positive relationships with opinion formers and key influencers. Provide responsive and proactive media advice in a fast-moving political environment. Act as a spokesperson for the Mayor when required. Support elected members and senior officers in their roles as media representatives.
