Head of English Department

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of English to lead the English Department at a successful secondary school in Hemel Hempstead. This is a great opportunity for a strong leader to shape teaching and learning, drive student outcomes, and contribute to whole-school improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
andbull; Lead and manage the English Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
andbull; Develop and implement an engaging, rigorous curriculum across Key Stages 3andndash;5
andbull; Support and mentor staff within the department, fostering continuous improvement
andbull; Monitor pupil progress and use data to drive targeted intervention and excellence
andbull; Contribute to school leadership and the wider curriculum development
andbull; Promote a love of literature and language throughout the school

Qualifications andamp; Requirements:
andbull; Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
andbull; Substantial experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 desirable)
andbull; Proven leadership or middle management experience in a secondary setting
andbull; Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment frameworks
andbull; Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
andbull; A passion for English education and a commitment to student progress
