We are working with a leading organisation in the residential sector who are seeking a highly skilled Head of Engineering to take ownership of their Mechanical & Electrical operations across a large UK estate.
With 30+ residential sites and a strong in-house engineering function, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader with strong Mechanical expertise to step into a high-profile role.
The Role As Head of Engineering, you will:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of six Regional Engineers/Supervisors who oversee site-level maintenance and contractor management.
- Oversee delivery of all planned and reactive maintenance across the estate, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, safety standards, and best practice.
- Drive optimisation of M&E assets, with a strong focus on Mechanical systems.
- Manage and deliver capital expenditure projects, from survey and scoping through to completion.
- Oversee service desk operations, ensuring SLAs are met and downtime is minimised.
- Liaise with development teams on new-build projects, influencing M&E design standards and ensuring smooth handover into operations.
- Manage budgets, reporting monthly performance against spend and ensuring value through contractor and supplier management.
- Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and energy efficiency across all engineering operations.
- Qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Mechanical bias strongly preferred).
- Experienced in leading multi-site engineering or facilities teams.
- Strong technical background in managing complex M&E systems across large estates.
- Proven ability to manage contractors, budgets, and capital projects.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Flexibility to travel across the UK estate as required.
- £80,000 basic salary
- Bonus scheme (typically £10k–£15k, uncapped)
- £5,000 car allowance
- Hybrid working (1–2 days WFH, rest split between Manchester HQ and site visits)
