Head of Bids / Pre Con

An established and growing main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Head of Bids / Head of Pre-Construction to lead its pre-construction and bidding function.

This is a senior role with significant influence over the company''s growth strategy, working closely with the Managing Director, commercial and operational teams to identify, develop and secure new opportunities.

The successful candidate will have genuine responsibility for the direction of the bids and pre-construction function, with the opportunity to influence which projects the business pursues, how they are positioned and ultimately the quality and profitability of the work secured.

Head of Bids / Pre Construction Roles & Responsibilities

• Leading the bids and pre-construction function from opportunity identification through to contract award.
• Developing and implementing effective bid strategies for competitive tenders.
• Reviewing and assessing new opportunities, including commercial, technical and delivery considerations.
• Managing and coordinating internal bid teams, consultants and supply-chain partners.
• Overseeing PQQs, ITTs, tenders, presentations and interview processes.
• Developing high-quality, compelling and commercially focused submissions.
• Working closely with estimating and commercial teams to ensure robust pricing and value engineering.
• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
• Supporting business development and maintaining a healthy pipeline of opportunities.
• Identifying opportunities to improve bid processes, systems and win strategies.
• Providing senior leadership and mentoring to the wider pre-construction team.
• Supporting the transition from successful bid through to delivery.

Head of Bids / Pre Construction Requirements

• Experience within the social housing refurb sector
• Experience within a senior bids or pre con management role
• Proven leadership and team-management experience.
• The ability to build strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply-chain partners.
