We are looking to hire a practical and visionary
Head of AI Governance
to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI across the Apex Group. Reporting directly to the Chief AI and Data Science Officer, this role will spearhead the development and implementation of governance strategies that ensure responsible, ethical, and risk-mitigated AI deployment across the organization. This is a strategic appointment with a global remit, offering the opportunity to drive operational excellence and innovation in the highly regulated financial services sector.Key Responsibilities
Establish an enterprise-wide AI policy framework, ensuring the safe, explainable, and responsible use of agentic systems and LLM-based applications.Design and implement a comprehensive AI/ML and Data Governance framework that integrates infrastructure, data assets, and use cases under a unified risk-mitigated model aligned to business strategy and regulatory expectations.Ensure alignment with global regulatory compliance, including documentation, audit readiness, and ethical AI practices tailored to the financial services industry.Drive cross-functional collaboration between Data, Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Security, and Product teams to embed governance into the AI lifecycle.Champion AI ethics, fairness, transparency, and accountability across AI applications, models, and decisioning systems.Define metrics and reporting structures to monitor model risk, performance drift, data lineage, and compliance effectiveness.Support the build-out of a global AI Governance team, setting direction, hiring talent, and enabling scalable growth of capabilities.Provide executive updates and strategic advice to the Board, Audit and Risk Committees, and C-level stakeholders.Required Skills and Qualifications
Proven leadership in designing and executing enterprise-wide AI governance strategies, operating models, and risk frameworks.Deep knowledge of responsible and ethical AI principles (e.g., fairness, transparency, accountability, privacy) and experience embedding these across the AI/ML lifecycle.Strong grasp of regulatory and compliance requirements, including GDPR, EU AI Act, ISO 42001, and financial-sector obligations.Experience managing AI/ML lifecycle risks including bias, drift, explainability, and model monitoring, with oversight of MLOps and audit processes.Skilled in developing AI governance policies, model validation procedures (e.g., SR 11-7), and coordinating across legal, risk, and regulatory functions.Effective cross-functional and global leader, with experience building responsible AI education programs, governance culture, and stakeholder engagement.Adept at advising on high-risk use case selection, escalation paths, and balancing innovation with enterprise safeguards.Familiar with tools for AI oversight, including explainability libraries, governance dashboards, and GRC platforms.Preferred Personal Attributes
