This is an exciting opportunity for a Head Chef who wants to work at a medium sized restaurant with an enviable reputation and is part of the fabric of Southampton.-
Responsibilities of the Head Chef
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient and smooth daily operations
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain high standards of quality and presentation
- Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, considering current trends and customer preferences
- Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and hygiene standards
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs effectively
- Train and mentor staff to enhance their culinary skills and service delivery
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during busy periods
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment at all times
- Ensure all dishes are prepared in accordance with recipes and quality standards
Skills required in the position of Head Chef-
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food production and preparation
- Excellent team management abilities, capable of motivating staff and fostering teamwork
- Proficient in cooking techniques across various cuisines and styles
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
- Leadership qualities with the ability to organise, delegate, and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously
- Exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with staff and management
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
