Hangar Cleaner

Our cleint is looking for a reliable, hands-on cleaner to keep its aircraft hangar and surrounding facilities at Bournemouth Airport clean, safe and presentable.

This is a long-term temporary position suited to someone who takes pride in their work and is comfortable working independently in a busy aviation environment.

The role covers the hangar floor, workshops, offices, welfare areas and the grounds around the site. A driving licence is essential, as the role involves moving between areas of the site and occasional runs for supplies.

Key duties

• Sweep, scrub and mop hangar floors, including spill clean-up using the correct spill kits
• Clean workshops, stores, offices, meeting rooms and welfare areas (kitchens, toilets, changing rooms)
• Empty bins and manage waste segregation and recycling, including hazardous waste handling as directed
• Keep walkways, fire exits and emergency routes clear and free of debris
• Carry out Foreign Object Debris (FOD) sweeps in and around the hangar and apron areas
• Clean windows, doors, fixtures and fittings
• Tidy external areas around the site, including car parks and entrances
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and consumables, collecting supplies when needed
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and pressure washers safely
• Report any damage, hazards or maintenance issues to the site supervisor
• Follow all site health and safety, COSHH and airside procedures

Requirements

Essential

• Full UK driving licence
• Right to work in the UK
• Previous cleaning experience, ideally in an industrial, commercial or warehouse setting
• Reliable, punctual and able to work unsupervised
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual work, standing and lifting
• Good attention to detail and a safety-first attitude

Desirable

• Experience in an aviation, engineering or manufacturing environment
• COSHH awareness or training
• Experience using industrial floor cleaning machines
• Own transport (Bournemouth Airport has limited public transport links)

Site and compliance

The hangar sits on an operational airport, so the successful candidate will need to pass pre-employment checks before starting.

• A 5-year employment and address history, with any gaps accounted for
• Background and criminal record checks for an airport ID pass
• Site health and safety induction on day one
• PPE provided (hi-vis, safety boots and gloves as required)
