H&S Manager

Millenium Site Services UK Ltd is a specialist contractor in the rail sector. We deliver Paint, GRP, Glass and Engineering services to leading rolling stock manufacturers and operators. We work from our own workshops and on client sites, and we are known for quality, reliability and high safety standards in demanding environments.

About the Role

We''re looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead H&S across our workshops and customer sites. Based at our Derby Head Office and reporting directly to the Managing Director, you''ll own the company''s H&S management system. You''ll also be the lead H&S contact for key client accounts and drive a strong, proactive safety culture across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Report weekly to the Managing Director on H&S performance, risks, incidents, KPIs and improvement actions
• Develop, review and maintain activity-specific RAMS / WPP for all client sites and operational activities
• Prepare and present H&S KPI reports for key client accounts
• Conduct internal audits and workplace inspections, and drive corrective actions through to completion
• Develop and implement Safe Systems of Work for H&S-critical activities
• Conduct and review Fire Risk Assessments and DSEAR risk assessments, including ATEX and hazardous area considerations
• Manage fire and explosion risks around spray booths, paint preparation, shotblasting and gas storage
• Develop and review COSHH assessments covering paints, solvents, isocyanates and other chemicals
• Oversee LEV systems, including commissioning, testing, maintenance and examination requirements
• Coordinate and carry out RPE face fit testing, and set PPE standards
• Monitor training and competency compliance across operational teams
• Lead accident, incident and near-miss investigations and analyse trends
• Deliver toolbox talks and briefings, and promote a positive safety culture
• Support client audits and liaise with client contacts, consultants, occupational hygienists and LEV engineers
• Drive consistent H&S standards and continuous improvement across all locations

What We''re Looking For

• NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (essential)
• NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
• Competent in Fire Risk Assessment and DSEAR Risk Assessment
• Proven H&S management experience in a manufacturing, engineering or multi-site environment
• Experience with paint, spray booth or hazardous substance environments (advantageous)
• P601 LEV Thorough Examination and Testing (desirable)
• Competent in coordinating and completing RPE face fit testing (desirable)
• Confident working with senior management and client stakeholders
• Full UK driving licence (for travel between sites)
