Group Marketing Manager

A group of 14 independent manufacturing businesses, all owned by a larger group is seeking a Group Marketing Manager to shape and deliver a marketing approach from the ground up.

Operating with a lean central team, the group exists to help each business thrive while retaining its independence. This newly created role is part of a five-year strategic plan and offers the freedom to create something lasting and game-changing.

Key Details 

• Remote-first role, with some travel to Midlands based sites, some sorrounding areas and events
• Head office in Birmingham (proximity advantageous but not essential)

The Opportunity as a Group Marketing Manager

This position focuses on enhancing the marketing and sales of individual businesses rather than promoting the group brand. Many of these businesses have decades of history, each with its own unique challenges and opportunities.

The role will begin with a full marketing audit across the group, assessing:

• Positioning & market opportunities
• Branding & messaging
• Websites & digital presence
• Communications & collateral
• Marketing resources
• Agency relationships & ROI
• SEO performance

Following this, 3–4 businesses will be selected for focused engagement to deliver demonstrable results that others in the group will want to adopt.

Additionally, the job holder will help create the overall marketing strategy which will act as a unifying thread between the individual businesses.

• A one-person marketing department

• A strong grasp of the full marketing mix, with the confidence to know when to involve specialists
• The ability to work with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, from managing directors to agency partners
• Energy, adaptability, and enthusiasm for a varied and challenging remit
• A track record of delivering measurable, strategic results
