As Group Management Accountant, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting across our portfolio of care homes. Combining technical expertise with people leadership, you'll ensure robust financial controls, accurate reporting and meaningful insight that supports operational performance, strategic decision-making and investor confidence.

About the role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll lead the production of consolidated management accounts across the Group, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining the highest standards of governance and financial control.

You'll oversee the month-end close process, Group consolidation, balance sheet integrity and financial reporting, providing insightful analysis that helps operational and finance leaders understand business performance. Working closely with colleagues across the Finance team, you'll support budgeting, forecasting and investor reporting while ensuring compliance with Group reporting standards and the SOX Section 404 control framework.

As an experienced people leader, you'll manage and develop a team of Management Accountants and Assistant Management Accountants, fostering a culture of accuracy, continuous improvement and professional development while ensuring the team delivers a high-quality service to the wider business.

About you

You'll be a technically strong, qualified accountant with significant experience in management accounting and Group reporting within a multi-site organisation. You'll enjoy balancing hands-on financial leadership with developing others, taking pride in producing accurate financial information while helping your team grow and succeed.

You'll be confident working with senior stakeholders, interpreting complex financial information and communicating clear, meaningful insight that supports informed business decisions. Organised, collaborative and solutions-focused, you'll thrive in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and continuous improvement are essential.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Significant experience in management accounting and Group consolidation within a multi-site organisation.
  • Experience leading and developing management accounting teams.
  • Strong expertise in month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Experience working within a SOX Section 404 controlled finance environment, including compliance, documentation and financial controls.
  • Strong understanding of operational financial performance measures, including occupancy, revenue, profitability and key business KPIs.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate financial information to demanding timescales.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and contributing to executive and investor reporting.

Desirable

  • Experience of multi-entity Group consolidation across England, Scotland and Wales.
  • Experience using Power BI or comparable business intelligence and reporting tools.

Additional information

This role is based at our Central Support Office in Darlington, with regular office attendance and occasional travel to care homes and regional offices.

An Enhanced DBS check and DVLA licence check are required for this role.
