Overview
Group Financial Accountant role at Thought Machine, London. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this position covers a wide range of critical finance responsibilities and offers a pathway for career progression in finance. This is an opportunity to contribute to best-in-class finance processes across the group.
Responsibilities
Own the group revenue recognition and accounts receivable processes, including the application of IFRS 15 and collaboration with sales and legal teams on customer contracts.Become the subject matter expert for the revenue/billing module within our Workday ERP system, responsible for reporting, data integrity, and generating analytical insights.Manage the month-end close process, including IFRS accounting, journals, and reconciliations.Assist with the preparation of management and statutory accounts across the group.Provide high-quality technical accounting and financial analysis as needed.Improve transactional and reporting processes and controls, actively identifying and implementing ways to make processes more efficient and scalable.Proactively assess and advise on changes to accounting standards and their implications for the business.Ensure accurate and timely preparation of VAT returns in collaboration with external tax advisors.Complete other ad hoc tasks to support the wider finance team.Essential Qualifications
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent) with at least three years of post-qualification experience in implementing and applying IFRS for a sizable group.A unique blend of experience from both an audit and in-house background, with a solid understanding of financial controls and best practices.Proven experience in driving and implementing process improvements for efficient and scalable reporting.Highly driven, self-starting, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical accounting principles to both finance and non-finance teams.Advanced Excel skills (Pivots, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH).Desirable
Proven experience working within a group environment.Experience in the software or fintech startup industry.Proficiency in Workday systems is a distinct advantage.Benefits
