About the Role
A Groundworker is required in Niddrie to join a team maintaining cemetery grounds. This full-time, temporary role involves 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, paying £14.51 per hour. The position entails measuring and marking grave spaces, preparing graves using an excavator, and keeping pathways clear. Responsibilities also include removing litter, maintaining grass, verges, and plants, checking headstones for damage, and ensuring all paperwork is current. Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence with no more than six points, possess excellent verbal communication, and demonstrate a compassionate manner. A strong awareness of health and safety is essential, along with the ability to use a computer or handheld device and work in all weather conditions.

The Groundworker will:
- Measure and mark out grave spaces
- Prepare graves with use of an excavator
- Keep pathways clear
- Remove litter
- Maintain the grounds of the cemetery (grass, verges & plants)
- Check headstones for damage and ensure they are safe
- Ensure all paper work is up to date
The Groundworker must:
- Have a full UK drivers licence with no more than 6 points
- Have excellent verbal communication skills
- Have a compassionate manner
- Be health and safety conscious
- Be able to carry out tasks on a computer or handheld device
- Be willing to work in all types of weather
