Grounds Maintenance Operative
Description
Our local government clients in Carmarthenshire, south-west Wales, seek a Grounds Operative with relevant experience to help maintain public parks, schools, and open spaces. Your skills in grounds maintenance and building work are valued and essential for delivering high-quality services. Must have a full UK driving licence; previous grounds maintenance and building experience, preferably with carpentry skills. Responsibilities
General maintenance of allocated areas, e.g., grass cutting, hedge trimming, and maintenance of sports areas in accordance with the approved specification. Undertake basic setting out and marking of sports areas and upkeep of artificial/synthetic/natural pitches. Undertake activities utilising craft skills, e.g., interpreting plans, site preparation, and construction. Cleaning, e.g., public buildings such as changing rooms and toilets, parks,
playgrounds, and open spaces.
Qualifications – Essential
- GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- UK Driving License Category B (up to 3.5 tonne GVW)
- Training on the use of machinery
- Level 2 Certificate of Competence for applying pesticides with handheld equipment,
- First Aid
- Basic Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Social Media and Tablet.
Criteria for Shortlisting –
- Must have previous building experience, preferably carpentry skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and under own initiative.
- Allocation of tasks / duties / comply with the set timescale.
- Ability to drive.
- Ability to tow trailers.
- Health and Safety legislation and Safe Working Practices.
- COSHH Regulations.
- Working with Hand Tools, Powered Vibrating Machinery and Light Plant
- Ability to liaise with fellow workers and members of the public. Team worker.

- 3 Years References
- Willing to engage in the Pre-Engagement Questionnaire and mandatory pre-screening application process.
