Responsibilities for a Graduate Urban Designer will include:

  • Supporting the preparation of masterplans, frameworks and urban design proposals
  • Producing plans, diagrams, presentations and design material
  • Undertaking site and contextual analysis
  • Assisting with feasibility studies and design development
  • Contributing to design codes, design guidance and planning documents
  • Supporting the preparation of planning applications and associated material
  • Producing high-quality visualisations and presentation material
  • Working collaboratively with architects, planners, consultants and clients
  • Researching and applying best-practice principles in sustainable placemaking and urban design
  • Developing your understanding of the planning and development process

Requirements for the Graduate Urban Designer role includes:

  • A relevant degree in Urban Design, Town Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or a related discipline
  • A genuine interest in urban design, placemaking and the built environment
  • Strong graphic and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Sketchup
  • An understanding of masterplanning principles and spatial design
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A creative and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Good attention to detail and an ability to manage deadlines
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
