Are you a recent graduate looking to build a career in town planning with a well-established and highly regarded planning consultancy?
We are currently working with a successful planning consultancy based in Cambridge that is looking to appoint a Graduate Town Planner to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of planning projects while working alongside experienced planning professionals.
The Role
As a Graduate Town Planner, you will support the wider planning team on a variety of projects, gaining exposure to both strategic and development management planning. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications.
- Undertaking planning research and policy analysis.
- Supporting the preparation of planning statements, reports and representations.
- Monitoring local planning policy and emerging development plans.
- Liaising with clients, local planning authorities and other professional consultants.
- Attending meetings and, where appropriate, site visits.
- Assisting with planning appeals and other development-related matters.
- Supporting senior colleagues across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed-use projects.
About You
We are looking for a graduate who is enthusiastic about developing a long-term career in planning and is keen to learn from an experienced team.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Town Planning, Planning & Development, Geography or a closely related subject.
- A genuine interest in the UK planning system and the built environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good research, analytical and organisational abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The confidence to communicate professionally with clients and stakeholders.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take responsibility.
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
Previous planning experience, including internships or relevant placement experience, would be beneficial but is not essential. Most importantly, you will be enthusiastic, commercially aware and keen to develop your planning career within a supportive consultancy environment.
