Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading independent planning consultancy in the appointment of a Graduate Town Planner to join their growing Edinburgh team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Planning graduate to kick-start their career with a highly regarded consultancy, working alongside experienced planning professionals on a wide variety of exciting projects across Scotland and the UK.

You''ll gain exposure to residential, commercial, mixed-use, renewable energy and strategic land projects while receiving structured training, mentorship and full support towards achieving RTPI Chartership.

The Role

As a Graduate Town Planner, you will work closely with senior members of the team, assisting in the delivery of planning advice and applications across a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals.
• Undertaking planning policy and site research.
• Preparing planning appraisals and supporting reports.
• Liaising with local authorities, clients and key stakeholders.
• Supporting senior planners on a range of development projects.
• Attending client meetings, site visits and public consultations.
• Keeping up to date with planning legislation and policy changes.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A degree or Master''s in Town Planning or a related discipline accredited by the RTPI.
• A genuine enthusiasm for planning and development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
