What a Graduate Teaching Assistant does day to day

• Works 1:1 or with small groups, supporting students to take part in lessons alongside their peers
• Follows plans and strategies set by teaching staff and the SENCO, rather than designing them
• Adapts resources so a task is achievable without changing what''s being learned
• Observes carefully and reports back on what''s working
• Supports students through routines, transitions and quieter moments of the day
• Learns from experienced staff, including therapists and specialists where they''re involved

Who this tends to suit

• Graduates, or final year students, in Psychology, Education, Sociology, Criminology or similar
• Anyone with experience of children or young people, including volunteering, coaching or youth work
• People who communicate clearly and don''t mind asking questions when they''re unsure

• Candidates available for full-time, long-term or permanent work
• You''ll need the right to work in the UK

Weekly PAYE pay. A consultant who knows the settings personally and will tell you honestly what to expect. Training in SEN and behaviour support. Long-term placements, which matter here, since this work only really makes sense once a student knows you. Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position is previous experience working in a school setting.
