Graduate SEMH Teaching Assistant
Specialist Secondary SEMH School - Freckleton - Up to -600 per week - Full-Time - September Start
Are you a Psychology graduate looking for exceptional hands-on experience before pursuing a career in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Therapy, Mental Health, or SEN Education?
Would you like to work in a specialist school that takes a genuinely nurturing, person-centred approach to supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs?
A unique secondary SEMH specialist school in Freckleton is expanding its provision from September and is seeking several talented Graduate SEMH Teaching Assistants to join its close-knit team.
A Unique SEMH Environment
This school is very different from the traditional SEMH setting. Rather than focusing primarily on behaviour management, the school places nurture, emotional development, relationships, and individual wellbeing at the heart of its approach.
Instances of serious challenging behaviour are extremely limited. Staff are trained to understand the reasons behind behaviour, recognise signs of dysregulation, and use holistic de-escalation strategies to help pupils understand and manage their emotions.
The school is led by an inspirational, forward-thinking Headteacher alongside a highly supportive SLT. For graduates interested in psychology or clinical careers, this provides an exceptional environment in which to learn about SEMH, emotional regulation, child development, and therapeutic approaches to education.
The Role - Graduate SEMH Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with secondary-aged pupils, providing academic, social, and emotional support both individually and within the classroom.
Learning extends beyond traditional lessons. The school has an on-site farm, with practical education including animal care, gardening, outdoor learning, and vocational activities forming an important part of the curriculum.
